The key to keeping the weight off when you start to lose it is to do it the right way. You do not want to starve yourself or lose weight too quickly because it will just come back. Usually people who lose weight too quickly gain the weight back. You want all your good eating and hard work to show after a couple of months, not have everything undone again.</p>
<p>People will try a new fad or crash diet that drastically changes the way they eat and their body will go into shock. When you drastically reduce the number of calories you are feeding yourself then you body goes into starvation mode. When this happens no matter how much exercise you do your body will try to burn the smallest amount of calories. Your metabolism will be nonexistent. You body is going to try to hold onto the fat that is there so that it does not lose too much due to not eating. You can see that this is the opposite of what you are going for. The most effective way to lose weight is slow and steady. People want instant gratification, but you have to be patient with it. You must make positive changes in your eating habits and in the amount of activity that you do.  Most doctors agree, you should never cut your calories to less than 1200 a day to lose weight. That is not responsible or healthy. You also should not lose more than two pounds a week at the most. If you begin to lose more quickly than that you will need to do something different. You can lose the weight you want to, you just have to be healthy about it. In order to lose weight you need to cut calories from your diet and burn calories. Creating a calorie deficit can be as simple as cutting 250 calories from your diet daily and burning at least 250 calories a day. This will usually result in around a pound lost per week. If you cut 500 calories from your diet and burn 500 calories then you see the same progression. This is the ideal amount for a healthy weight loss per week. Losing one to two pounds per week is a safe amount. You should never go under 1200 calories, because this is not enough for your body to function correctly throughout the day. Usually you can figure out the calories you need to eat daily for significant weight loss, but talk to your doctor to make sure that your body does not need more. An active person will need more calories than a person who is sedentary. If you are losing more than one to two pounds at a time then you may well find it difficult to keep it off.</p>
<p>If you set a goal to eat healthy every day you will not have to count calories. If you eat lean protein, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats then you will feel better. Lots of people do not take the time plan out their meals, and just grab fast food or something that is not going to help their body. If you take the time to plan out your meals and pick healthy items then you will see results.</p>

Other people think that if they eat all vegetables and fruits that they are being healthy. The truth is that healthy eating does not have to be about eating all one thing, and it certainly does not mean starving yourself. There are different types of diets out there, but healthy eating really just comes down to knowing what your body needs and what is good for it.</p>
<p>You need protein, fat, vegetables, whole grains, fruit, and water to have a healthy balanced diet. You can get these in any way you see fit. If you want to have an egg omelet in the morning with whole grain toast, fruit, and cooked vegetables, then you go ahead. You are getting in a lot of vitamins, proteins, and nutrients your body needs for the day. You need fat, there is a common misconception that fat is bad, it is the extra calories of fat that are bad. You need to take in Omega 3, 6, and 9. Having a plant based diet is fine if you are a vegetarian, but you must have protein in your diet to avoid withering away and having brittle bones. Another thing that will help you stick to healthy eating is eating at home, and taking your lunch to work. You eat excess calories when you order food in a restaurant, because the serving sizes are huge. There is also a temptation to order something that is not good for you like cheese fries when you are staring at a menu. The less you eat out the better your diet will be, and the better you will feel. Stay away from double pounders and the biggest burrito at taco bell. You can find salads there; you can find low calorie meals anywhere. You just have to plan where you will eat ahead of time, and look up the calories before you go.  You will probably be surprised what is high in calories, and what is not. You should never judge a book by its cover and that is especially true when it comes to food.</p>
<p>Healthy eating comes down to knowing what your body needs and stopping when you are full. Chewing slowly can help you not over do it. If you have to go out to eat have half of your food wrapped to go. If it is sitting in front of you, you are more likely to eat all of it. Do not feel bad having a salad when the rest of the table is having cheeseburgers. You made a commitment to yourself and you feel good about it. Letting other people discourage you, or worse talk you into eating unhealthy, will make you feel worse later. You know what is good for you, and you have your own goals to reach. Stick to them and you will be happy with the results.</p>

According to the dictionary a healthy diet is one that maintains or improves your health. You need to eat right to not only stay at a healthy weight, and feel good about yourself, but also to keep your body healthy. Eating food that is not good to you can cause all kinds of problems, you can have a stroke or heart attack because of closed arteries. You can suffer from breathing problem if you are overweight, and other medical conditions you might not have otherwise. You need to have healthy diets for your family and for yourself in order to keep everyone in tip top shape. A healthy diet does not have to be a boring one; you can easily make delicious healthy food and keep everyone happy. Getting creative with vegetables is just one way to shake things up. Vegetables can be roasted, baked, grilled, sautéed, and served with hundreds of different meals. This is just one way to get healthy food in to your meals. There are many other tricky ways to sneak healthy food and nutrients in for your family.</p>
<p>So what should you have in a healthy diet and what should you not have? There are lots of things that you can eat that are good for you that you will enjoy. For example a good source of vitamin C is found in strawberries and oranges which kids like and you can easily get them to eat. Beta-carotene is found in peaches which are another thing that people like to eat. Whole grain is an easy substitution for a lot of the white foods you may consume. You can replace your crackers, bagels, rice, and bread with better for you whole grain options. There are many ways to cook vegetables and grains where your family will eat them. As for adults staying healthy means getting rid of some of the consumption habits you may have like eating after the kids go to bed, or drinking more than one glass or beer a day. You know that alcohol has health benefits, but only in moderation.</p>
<p>Keeping a healthy diet is a big commitment. It takes planning out meals and considering calories when shopping for food. Healthy diets are not something you should do when you want to lose weight. You should make a point to create a lifestyle where you are always putting good things in your body. Set a good example for your family and friends by reaching for healthy snack choices and not a bag of Oreos or chips. Not only will you be healthier, you will be happier. You will be happy with your body and free from all the harmful chemicals and preservatives that are not good for you. These types of weigh down additives are found in a lot of processed food. Make smart choices for you and your family and incorporate vegetables, and whole grains into meals as often as possible. Start paying attention to what you are putting into your mouth and you will be well on your way to a healthier diet.</p>
